A Study on Portraits

I tried to play around with two different techniques for my portrait paintings. The guy portrait is the one where I initially paint the values and then I try to apply color to those values using a "color" layer on top of that. The girl is the one where I try to form everything -value and color- together from the beginning and modify it and add highlights and details as I go. I think the guy turned out to look more realistic and the girl looked more different than the reference photo I was using.
